When We Cast Our Thoughts Into the Deep

When we sit deep in thought, ignoring the rest of the world, we find ourselves immersed in new worlds of the imagination mingled with old worlds of memory. So it seems to me.

I once spent an entire day dreaming about fantastic worlds and adventures and I had a great time. I was just a teenager and my friends all wondered where I was but my head was filled with thoughts that I could not contain. It was a great day and sometimes I wish I could do that again.

The imagination is an endless source of adventures, challenges, resolutions, and lives we wish we could live. As long as we don’t become lost in our daydreams they are safe places to venture into.

And we use our dreams to wrangle with complicated problems. Daydreams are the mechanics of solutions, someone once said. Maybe he was me.  In daydreams we can play with dangerous things over and over again until we reach a safe method of handling them.

Daydreams are the workhorses of the mind.  They come into existence throughout the entire day.  Often we are even unaware we are having them.

But sometimes we also engineer our daydreams. Some people write about their daydreams, or waking fantasies. By sharing what we think of with others we bare our souls and open our hearts to the imaginations beyond our dreams.

Daydreaming is a gift from the heart to the soul, and it echoes through the generations.

When I allow my daydreams to persist I find myself revisiting familiar ground from older daydreams because I was not satisfied with how those other problems were resolved.

I want my daydreams to be meaningful, to have purpose, and to help me achieve great things.  I need not conquer worlds as long as I can make my journey through this world a little simpler and easier to bear.

Let us always remember that daydreams, when shared, become the dreams of other people.  We need to share our dreams so that we can work together and achieve the impossible.
